Rules for the Launceston Philatelic Society Annual Competitions

As drafted by the Club Committee, amended August 2001.

 

The Competitions will be held as near as practicable to the Saturday meeting in June, and are open to all members of the L.P.S. who may enter (using their own material) any one of the following 4 Classes in each year.

 

Class 1:        Traditional Philately   -     for the Keith Lancaster perpetual trophy.

 

 

Class 2:        Postal History            -    for the Jim Harrison perpetual trophy.

 

 

Class 3:        Junior (not above 18 years).

 

 

Class 4:        General    -    all other entries. -  for the LPS Club Shield

 

 

Entries must be not less than 6 pages and not more than 15 pages, the first of which shall contain an introductory statement of the plan or concept of the exhibit as a whole. Entries in Class 1 or 2 must be 15 standard pages, enclosed in transparent protective covers, suitable for mounting in the Exhibition frames.

 

Exhibits may be delivered at the meeting, but advance notice by intending competitors (indicating the Class and number of sheets) should be given to the Secretary at least 2 days beforehand.

 

The exhibits will be judged according to normal State level standards, qualified judge where possible. The judge's decision(s) shall be final. The judge will not be an entrant in the Competitions.

 

The awards: every entrant in each Class shall receive a Certificate of Participation, indicating first second or third where appropriate. The perpetual trophy shall be awarded in Class 1 or Class 2 where the Judge is of opinion a sufficiently high standard has been achieved by the first placegetter to merit such award, and where such awards are given, they shall be entered on the appropriate trophy board.

 

The awards will be handed out at the Annual General Meeting next following the Competitions, along with Certificates of Appreciation for all those who have presented non-competitive displays during the preceding year.
